Brandon Hogan To Start Practicing With the Carolina Panthers Next Week

Joseph Person of the Charlotte Observer revealed VIA Twitter today that former Mountaineer CB Brandon Hogan will begin practicing next week with the Carolina Panthers. Hogan is currently on the Physically Unable to Perform list and is not eligible to play until Oct.23rd against Chris Neild and the Washington Redskins.
Hogan tore his ACL last December and has been able to run on it for months. When he reported to Panthers training camp, he failed his physical due to the knee. His problem was that when he tried to make cuts, his knee would swell. He worked with trainers on the sidelines during practices.
The Panthers have big holes on defense. They have lost two Pro-Bowl linebackers this season in Jon Beason and Thomas Davis. Cornerback is another weak spot as was evidenced by by New Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees picking apart the Panthers secondary as he engineered a game-winning touchdown drive with a minute left in last week's game. Captain Munnerlyn and Chris Gamble are the two starters at corner.
If activated, Hogan will provide depth on the outside immediately and could help in the return game for the Panthers as well.
