Brandon Hogan Has Swelling In His Knee- Questionable For Sunday

Brandon Hogan was added to the Panthers active roster last week after spending the first half of the season on the PUP list. He was inactive in the Panthers' loss to the Titans last Sunday. Head coach Ron Rivera wanted to hold Hogan out until he felt he was in 'game shape.'
The Panthers Hogan's help at corner which is one of the biggest weaknesses the team faces on defense. The Panthers would also like to try Hogan out as a kick returner.
The team faces Matthew Stafford and Calvin Johnson and the Detroit Lions on Sunday, and there's a question of who will cover Johnson. The job will come down to one or both of the team's starting corners: Captain Munnerlyn or Chris Gamble. The team would like to have Hogan active so he could lend some much needed support in covering Johnson.
Hogan practiced yesterday with the team, but his surgically repaired knee was swollen when he came to practice today.
"He (Hogan) did actually practice this afternoon though, so it may not be as bad as they initially thought," said Ron Rivera.
Rivera said that he'll make the decision tomorrow on whether to activate Hogan against the Lions:
"The concern is how he reacts tomorrow. Anytime you have practice on turf like we did the last two days because of the weather, that's always going to rough for someone coming off knee surgery. That's the residual of practicing on it two days. He got sore last night and came in this morning sore and with some fluid and tightness, so we wanted to be careful with him. He actually responded pretty good to treatment and practice. He was going to get some opportunities. We'll see. He came out of this afternoon a little better than I originally thought."
I'll let you know Sunday on Twitter (@WVUPros) whether or not Hogan will play as well as all the other Mountaineers in the NFL.
