Ellis Lankster Re-Signs With the New York Jets

The New York Jets cut Ellis Lanskter at the end of the Preseason after he had a good camp. He returned an interception for a TD against the Philadelphia Eagles in the last game of the Preseason, but it was not enough to ensure a roster spot on the team to start the season.
Last week against the New England Patriots, the Jets suffered to injuries to two DB's. Donald Strickland left the game with a head injury, and Isiah Trufant suffered a significant hamstring injury.
Lankster played in 10 games last season with the Buffalo Bills and was ineligible for the Jets practice squad after he was cut. He signed a future contract with the Jets back in January.
The signing of Lankster will not significantly impact the team, but he will provide depth to the Jets secondary and also may play on special teams.
The Jets host the Miami Dolphins on Monday Night Football, Oct. 17. The Dolphins will have Steve Slaton playing in his second game with the team after he was cut by the Houston Texans. The Dolphins had a bye last week and used the extra week to find a place for Slaton in their offense.
